The sidewall continues into the ski in the form of directly embedded, extremely stable wooden layers on the flanks of the sandwich core. In combination with a more flexible, lighter wood in the middle of the sandwich core, this construction offers numerous advantages: The hardwood content within the sidewall ensures increased power transmission, contributes to better edge grip and supports the edge against external forces. The softwood content in the middle of the ski, due to its lower weight, provides more agility and maneuverability. The combination of both types of wood over the entire length of the ski contributes to an optimal stiffness distribution of the skis and enables more precise ski control.
